Brain Re-mapping through Cognitive thinking

 20-20 May, 2020

Watch Joanne Lara explaining how breaking down tasks to make it simpler.

  • It can range from making a sandwich to wearing clothes independently (Example: taking the pant from the bed, putting the right leg in, then the left leg in, pulling the pant up, zipping the zipper, and buttoning the pant).
  • It is okay when children speak to themselves. This happens typically to children up to 2 years of age because they internalize all the talks that they hear from the outside world.

  • Autism Movement Therapy is an empowering instructional strategy that strengthens both the left and right hemispheres of the brain; by combining patterning, visual movement calculation, audile receptive processing, rhythm, and sequencing for a whole-brain cognitive thinking approach that improves behavioral, academic, emotional, social and speech and language skills through “re-mapping”.

  • Music and dance calm us and help to regulate our moods. Dance and music have an enormous effect on our thinking and how we process information. We use all our senses when we dance and most importantly we use our ‘whole brains’.

  • Tips like building safety while crossing roads, developing trust, connecting, and caring are very important strategies while working in the employment sector with individuals on the spectrum.
