There lies a profound need for understanding and support to acknowledge the existing gap in awareness surrounding autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the required clinical services for their nurturance. Schools and colleges that join our journey shall be participating in the initiative towards inclusion for all. The future population of therapists and professionals that schools are generating under their roof will be able to outreach and develop sensitization towards autism followed by upskilling themselves. The new generation learns more about how the neurodevelopment community works and how they can help the community develop towards inclusion in society as a whole.

On 15th March, The team of IAC, visited The Neotia University (TNU) campus to host an awareness event, aimed to facilitate an open discussion forum, promoting the students’ interest in upskilling and evolving as experts in this domain. Participated by the Applied Psychology Department of TNU, this event had an array of engaging presentations and insightful discussions that served as a platform for students, faculty, and staff to come together and explore opportunities at the India Autism Center(IAC).

IAC campus promotes a healthy and supportive living environment inclusive to all neurodiverse populations and the bandwidth of aid will be required from experts in the rehabilitation domain. The event addressed the importance of prioritizing the current clinical validity of the conventional courses dealing with the Indian neurodiverse community, focusing on mental health support services, therapy, and training programs. Clued in on the impact of such academic ventures and professional opportunities, the presenters discussed the availability of academic resources for professionals in various roles within the autism care domain.

Concluded with a Q & A session, students engaged with presenters to delve deeper into specific topics of interest. There were enquiries regarding residential policies, amenities, future initiatives, and potential areas for opportunities at the IAC campus. The presentation emphasized the need for ongoing collaboration and education to ensure continuity and growth of the ASD-affected population as well as for quality-driven education of young professionals. All presenters were given mementos from The Neotia University, Applied Psychology Department to express gratitude and acknowledge their invaluable insight and commitment to advancing the autism care ecosystem, from professionals to Autism affected individuals.
